Turning the big 3-0!

Last Saturday was my dreaded 30th birthday! When I woke up I turned to James and asked, "Do I look like Betty White now?" Can't I just freeze time and stay in my 20's forever? To help soften the blow of becoming an oldie, James planned a super fun day for me! It started out with breakfast in bed, followed by James building my birthday presents:

A crib and a changing table for our new little one!!! Aren't they darling? I can't wait to get into my designer mode and make the nursery super cute! After a long afternoon of building, we went to dinner at La Caille with my mom and dad. I was born on my parents 10th wedding anniversary so as I was ringing in my 30 years, they were celebrating their 40th anniversary! As much as I hate getting older, I can't wait until it's me and James celebrating 40 years of an awesome marriage!

Adoption Update

WE ARE OFFICIALLY APPROVED!!!
We are super excited because as of a few hours ago, we got the long anticipated phone call from our caseworker telling us that we are approved! If you click on our picture to the right, it will link you to our online profile with LDS Family Services. We celebrated our approval with a yummy dinner out where we sat next to another couple who recently adopted. It's a small world after all!
Now comes the tough road and we need your help! If you know of anyone who is pregnant and considering adoption, we would be thrilled if you would direct them to our profile so that they may have the chance to get to know us better. We are so excited for the road ahead and can't wait to find our little one!

Wrapping Up Summer

I can't believe summer is actually over! It went by so fast... wasn't it just barely Christmas? The saying is totally true that time flies when you're having fun! We had a blast this summer and thought we'd share just a few of the fun things that we did that didn't earn a blog post!
A competitive game of croquet with James' family - James won, but I still want a re-match!
We went to an awesome arcade with my BFF Ashley and her daughter Cameron. This was the loot we won with all of our hard earned tickets!
Here we are at Red Butte Garden... I tried to shove James into the pond right after this pic was taken, but he was too strong! Next time, he he he!
Summer isn't complete without at least one outdoor concert! We had a blast at the Peter Cetera concert at the Sandy Amphitheatre. Glory of Love from Karate Kid was the hit of the night, especially when my brother cheered: "Ralph Macchio is my hero!"
One of our favorite summer activities is the annual Jenkins' camp out at Capitol Reef National Park. This year we went on the raddest hike - just over 6 miles long! We had to climb down 3 waterfalls and the fourth waterfall we actually had to slide down. It was super fun!!!
You know how they say, "it's not over until the fat lady sings?" Well, in my book, summer isn't over until we go to the super fun annual block party hosted by our friends and neighbors, the Oliverson's. This year's theme was a Luau (in case you couldn't tell by our costumes) and it was awesome! Hula-hooping contests, water balloon launching, a limbo contest, and even a snow cone machine - what a way to say goodbye to summer!!!

Adoption Update

We've finished submitting the last of our paperwork! Woo hoo! The last thing on the to do list was our home visit. Shannon, our caseworker, came out last week and inspected our house and we passed with flying colors - yay! Now everything rests on Shannon's shoulders. She has to write up our complete adoption study and then put it before the review board for approval. This last step could take about another month, but then we should finally be approved and our little one could be on the horizon! We're so excited to be a part of the adoption world and have truly enjoyed the journey thus far!
