For Birth Parents

Dear Friends:
It’s impossible to find the right words to say in what will be the most important letter we’ll ever write. We understand that you have some big decisions to make and we are grateful that you are looking at all of your options. Thank you for taking a minute to check out our profile. We hope that we can make this time in your life a little easier by letting you know how brave we think you are. We want you to know that whatever decision you make for you and your baby, you are in our thoughts and prayers and we feel honored that you’re taking a minute to get to know us!

Our Little Love Story -
Heather and I met at a church activity in 2003. For me, it was love at first sight! I was first attracted to her beautiful and infectious smile, and I just knew that I had to get to know the girl behind it. I finally got up the courage to ask her out. After a few months of dating, she finally realized that I was her Prince Charming and everything seemed to line up perfectly. We were engaged the following March, and married in August 2004. We’ve loved everything about married life from buying our first house to burning Sunday dinner together!

Our Road to Adoption -
We’ve always known that we wanted to have children because we both have awesome families. Heather is the third of four children, and I am the seventh of eight kids. We have 2 nieces and 12 nephews - including cute Curtis, who was recently adopted! After we were married, we immediately bought a house and started planning for our first little addition. We actually had baby names picked out before we got engaged! (We're nerds, right!) We thought it would be a piece of cake... boy were we in for disappointment! After years of frustration, tears, and fertility treatments, we were introduced to the miracle of adoption. Last April, our close friends adopted a beautiful little girl. While we were holding her for the first time, we both felt a strong impression that adoption was the right path for us. We know that adoption is an incredible and amazing way to become parents, and we are ready to begin our adoption journey!

Heather’s thoughts about James -
I think the world of James! He is the sweetest, most loving person that I know and I love him to pieces! He has an amazing ability to brighten any room because he is always infectiously happy. James is super smart. He recently received his MBA and was promoted to Vice President at his company. He is hard working and motivated and we’ve been blessed because of it. He also has an incredible musical talent as a singer. A few years back he was performing one of his many solos, and nerves got the better of him - he ended up passing out and smacking his head on the microphone! We still haven’t let him live that one down!!! I also know, without a doubt, that James will be an awesome daddy. He told me just the other day how excited he is for Saturday mornings to have one-on-one time with our little one: feeding them, playing together, and of course watching Saturday morning cartoons. He seriously is my best friend and I love him more than words could ever express. I am enormously proud to call James my husband because he truly is the best person that I know!

James’ thoughts about Heather -
Heather is the love of my life! She really is amazing. She is a talented interior designer and has a lot of fun experimenting on our house. Heather has the most infectious smile. She is so willing to serve others. She spends countless hours each week getting ready for her church responsibilities, plus she often babysits her nephews. She has also donated her talents for the past few years in decorating a Christmas tree for the Festival of Trees (these are auctioned off to help raise money for Primary Children's Medical Center). She also has a great sense of humor - she is always trying to get me to smile or laugh by acting funny or making up silly songs. She plans on being a stay-at-home mom, and is excited to teach our new little one. She believes in the magic of imagination and can’t wait to do crafts and read stories. Heather has been collecting children’s books for the past 10 years and has tons of fun stories to tell. She, of course, is already using her decorating skills to design the perfect nursery for our new baby. I know that she will make an amazing mommy!

The Road Ahead -
Our families are thrilled for us to add another baby into the mix and we have several fun traditions that we are excited to continue with our child. Heather and I want our kids to be able to learn and develop their own talents, whether it be in sports, music, art or whatever they’re passionate about. We have also traveled a lot and are excited to be able to go on family vacations and show our child how beautiful the world is and how amazing other cultures are.

We would love to explore an open adoption! We know how important it will be for our child to know where they came from and that through your love, they were able to come to our home. We'd love to get to know you, so please feel free to contact us with your questions. Thanks again for taking a minute to look at our profile and we hope that you will be blessed in whatever road you choose.

Much love,
James & Heather
